Beautiful French Antique Silver Pewter Serving Platter, Round Scalloped Edge Silver Plate
This gorgeous silver pewter serving plate is a classic french service design with the typical scalloped rim or contoured fretwork edged. It was produced by a renowned pewter fabrication family called Gras et Etienne in Angers France and the mark dates it to the turn of the century. It has an amazing thick bright silver pewter surface similar to true silver ( rare to pewter pieces that are often dull and dark with age) and a heavy well made body. It has a slightly rustic yet elegant appeal with its timeworn patina and slightly warped shape. You can just imagine it filled with a beautiful roasted chicken, aside a pitcher of wine, on the table of an old-world brasserie. This would be a lovely addition to a clean, streamlined table setting, fresh white linens, and fabulous fresh market produce.
This platter is in lovely antique condition. As pictured there is some surface wear and faint scratches throughout that give it a lovely time worn feel. see photos for details.
