French Antique Gravy Boat, Sauce Boat, Rare Flow Blue Transferware
Shabby Chic at its finest! This gorgeous gravy boat has a lovely dark blue garland and lattice transferware motif against the most amazing aged porcelain backdrop. This kind of patina is hard to find in a piece in such perfect structural condition. The beautiful deep navy transfer has a subtle bleeding effect, known as "flow blue", which originally was a mistake in production that ultimately became a much sought after effect in the world of transferware hence the name. It is almost ombre and gives it an even more antiqued appearance. This would be fabulous at a candelabra lit dinner table with white linens along side your roasted bird. Brings the senses back to times long past.
There is no makers mark at the bottom, only a stamp "Terre de Fer" which only denotes a northern porcelain producer.
This piece is in perfect structural condition, no chips, cracks or hairs.
Just slight crazing and tea staining throughout. (the best part)
