Just fill the bell compactly with your favorite butter, fill the base vessel to the brim with cold water and displace the water by gently submerging the bell until firmly sealed. This will create an airtight seal allowing the butter to remain cool and fresh at room temperature. This stunning piece is in beautiful antique condition. NO cracks, crazing or discoloration. There is one small shallow chip on the inner lip of the top portion. And the gold trim has worn away on the lid portion.
