A beautiful relic of the past, this lovely French antique cast iron brazier or foot warmer was an early form of portable, personal heating. When nights were especially cold, hot coals from the fire could be transferred to this lovely open iron work box for a compact source of radiant heat.
Today the beauty of this piece can still be appreciated as a decorative touch anywhere in the house. It works beautifully as a trinket or jewelry box. It can be used as a candle holder, small votives can be placed inside to create a whimsical lighting effect. This also works to create a pot warmer on the table. They can also make for interesting planters allowing sprouts to push through the openings in the lid. So many lovely reuse ideas with a little imagination.
★It is in beautiful antique condition, with obvious signs of use in the interior. One of the hinges has been fixed long ago with a nail end but works perfectly. See photos for details.
